Residency in Psychiatry at Staten Island University Hospital

Welcome! We are pleased that you have chosen to learn more about the programs and educational experiences we offer to prospective residents. Our educational program is focused on helping you develop the skills necessary to be a lifelong learner, whatever type of practice you pursue: whether you choose an academic career, hospital-based practice or office practice.

Psychiatrists increasingly hold new and important roles within healthcare teams. Therefore, we believe it is important for you to be comfortable with the medical aspects of psychiatric care, the interface of psychiatric and medical illnesses and the impact of psychiatric morbidity on the outcome of both acute and chronic medical illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes mellitus, and oncologic disorders. Our training program will prepare you to be a healthcare leader, so you can cope with these demands confidently and be a force for constructive change in your community.

We address the many mental health needs of the communities we serve by providing exceptional psychological services and behavioral health resources.
