The Residency in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ) is a 36-month program offering additional credentialing in reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery. This program is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medicine Education for 12 residents each year.
As the American patient population's life expectancy and level of activity continue to grow, so does the need for quality foot care. In addition to reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, the needs of the diabetic patient with regard to preventing lower extremity amputations is directly linked to the podiatric care they receive. The program provides a wealth of educational resources including reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic wound care and limb preservation, pediatric orthopedics, and trauma. We continue to attract the best podiatric physician candidates from colleges nationwide and provide a comprehensive and diverse educational experience.
