Residency in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital
The podiatric medicine and surgery residency program at Lenox Hill Hospital is a 36-month program offering additional credentialing in reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery. This program is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medicine Education for two residents each year.
In keeping with the mission of our sponsoring institution, the program is designed to provide the academic and clinical foundations for the doctor of podiatric medicine. Our mission is to train individuals who will provide high quality, compassionate and accessible care to all patients.
Residents take advantage of the small community hospital setting in the middle of a large metropolitan area. As part of the largest health system in New York state, residents are offered a wide variety of training experiences including trauma, podiatric surgery, foot and ankle pathology and orthopedics.
As part of a major teaching hospital, the program is integrated into all specialties offered with a competency-based curriculum that includes:
- Behavioral science
- Emergency medicine
- General surgery
- Infectious disease
- Internal medicine
- Medical imaging
- Orthopedic surgery
- Podiatric surgery
- Podiatric medicine
- Office rotations
- Wound care
The program is integrated with the orthopedic surgery residency program where residents will be attending grand rounds and lectures together. In addition to reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and diabetic limb salvage, we have a strong podopediatrics and sports medicine rotation.
Trainees also take advantage of an annual Orthopaedic Research Day, journal club, hands-on cadaver workshops, podiatric lecture series, and orthopedic conferences.
