Residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ)

The residency in oral & maxillofacial pathology at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ) is a three-year hospital-based training program designed to guide oral pathology students in a similar way to that of the medical pathology residents.

The Department of Dental Medicine has more than 50 years of experience providing post-graduate dental training with more than 130 full-time and part-time voluntary faculty serving as an educational resource to our trainees.

The program helps trainees to understand and correlate the gross and microscopic characteristics of biopsy specimens; write gross and microscopic descriptions; establish and maintain an oral pathology biopsy service, and learn the effects of diseases on the oral tissues.

As a regional referral center, the Department of Dentistry serves all the dental needs of the community, including infants with cleft palates and geriatric patients with memory disorders. Trainees have the opportunity to interact with our extremely diverse patient population to provide advanced diagnostic care and preventive services.

We offer a full range of dental services for adults and children, including cleanings, dentures, extractions, fillings and root canals.
