Thank you for your interest in the residency in neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ). The goal of our residency program is to train individuals who will pursue a career in academic neurosurgery.

This residency is an academic program with a significant research component. Trainees are exposed to a diverse caseload and an intense and rewarding educational experience. Our Department of Neurosurgery has a large full-time faculty representing a wide range of interests and backgrounds. They manage translational and basic research programs while providing state-of-the-art clinical care. We consider the training of academic neurosurgeons a responsibility and our contribution to the vitality and advancement of our discipline.

Our world-renowned physicians’ areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and deep brain stimulation.
