Our residents play an integral role in the care that is provided to our patients. To ensure they are receiving the best quality of care possible, we have basic requirements for entry to the program. In general, we take into account all aspects of an application to determine how an applicant may add to the experiences of the program, instead of focusing on single factors. However, the applicants must provide the following items to be considered for this program.

  • Proof of anticipated graduation from a medical school in the United States or Canada, including the Sackler School of Medicine
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent residency or an H1 or J1 visa
  • USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK/CS passing scores
  • Three current letters of recommendation from medical school faculty, including one from the medical school dean stating the applicant’s status in the program and expected graduation date
  • Copy of official medical school transcripts, including third year grades

All applications should be submitted through the electronic residency application system no later than December 1.

Interviewing process

Completed applications with all the required documents are reviewed between July and December. We extend invitations to interview with approximately 300 applicants each year. Interview invitations are sent via email. The interview dates traditionally are from late October to the end of January.

Interview lodging

The program does not pay for your lodging. However, there are a variety of hotels in the area surrounding the hospital.
