Independent Clinical Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital
Independent Clinical Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital is a one-year program designed to give fellows both in-depth knowledge of, and hands-on technical skills in, advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries. It will also include extensive exposure to robotics through clinical activity, participation education and involvement in scholarly research activity.
Throughout this fellowship, you will participate in preoperative evaluation in the clinic, perform technical aspects of intraoperative procedures and follow patients into the outpatient setting.
You will be involved in the work-up and management of patients requiring gastrointestinal, endocrine, colorectal and obesity surgery, and will also receive minor levels of call at an attending level as a transition to practice. Clinical research is an integral part of the program.
The fellowship includes some exposure to basic and advanced flexible endoscopy. You will be involved in general surgery resident training, including involvement in the skill training labs, as well as developing presentations to the faculty and resident surgeons.
Current time distribution of the fellowship is 70 percent clinical work, 20 percent educational activities and 10 percent research.
Lenox Hill Hospital currently offers one fellowship position each year matched through the Fellowship Council. All interviews will be extended through this process.
