Fellowship in Cytopathology at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NS/LIJ)
The Department of Pathology at Northwell Health offers a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship program in diagnostic cytopathology. This program provides advanced training in all areas of cytopathology, including gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytopathology.
The program is also well suited for those who are academically oriented. We provide an organized educational experience that exposes the fellow to both the theoretical and practical applications of cytopathology. Values that we feel are important are that the program practices and teaches state-of-the-art diagnostic pathology together with a strong foundation in pathogenesis and the molecular basis of disease.
Training includes hands-on performance and interpretation of fine needle aspiration biopsies. Fellows gain experience with techniques such as immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, flow cytometry and image analysis.
Prospective applicants must apply by December 1 two years prior to the anticipated July 1 start date (for example, December 1, 2015 for start date of July 1, 2017).
Essential application information includes:
