Fellowship in Cardiology at Staten Island University Hospital

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at Staten Island University focuses on training physicians in cardiovascular medicine committed to a career in clinical cardiology. Training not only provides all the fundamental skills necessary to enable a physician to become an exemplary clinician and mentor, but also instills the utmost respect for the patient, stressing the critical importance of compassionate and caring doctor/patient relationship. Fellows participate in quality and performance Improvement committees throughout the hospital.

One of the department's main goals is to teach state-of-the-art approaches and techniques to prepare trainees to work at the forefront of their field. Staten Island University offers cardiovascular fellows a unique set of resources and an ideal environment in which to take advantage of this exciting era in cardiac medicine. The carefully structured clinical curriculum of our fellowship program is strengthened by a highly accomplished faculty, committed to helping trainees achieve their maximum potential. Our program's strong investment in multidisciplinary training and research provides fellows with a solid foundation on which to build their futures, and it is our objective to continue this tradition of excellence by attracting promising men and women to careers in academic cardiology.

Combining clinical and research experience over three years, the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship includes intensive training in cardiovascular patient care. Our commitment to academic, scholarly activity is equally as strong; fellows are paired with research and clinical mentors early in their training experience so that they may be aided in developing productive and satisfying careers. Many graduating fellows decide to continue their education and pursue further training in subspecialties, interventionism cardiology, and electrophysiology.

The Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship is a three-year ACGME-approved program. The patient care clinics and laboratory rotations for the fellows follow the American College of Cardiology Guidelines and comply with ACGME requirements.
