PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program - CCMC
Cohen Children’s Medical Center is currently offering four positions in our PGY-2 pharmacy residency program in pediatric pharmacy practice to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of pediatric patients. This program will build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and make residents eligible for board certification and a fulfilling career in clinical pediatric pharmacy care.

Program information
The PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program at CCMC is a 12-month postgraduate training experience. Our program seeks to build on the resident’s PGY-1 pharmacy experience to create well-rounded clinical pharmacists who will be able to practice in any clinical, operational, academic or administrative setting relating to pediatric pharmacy.
At the completion of the PGY-2 pediatric residency program, the resident will have the experience and knowledge necessary to become a pediatric specialty pharmacy services leader, prepare for the pediatric pharmacy board certification exam and mentor future pharmacy learners in the pediatric arena.

- Participation in research and pediatric pharmacy initiatives that impact care at both the local and system level
- Teaching hospital affiliated with Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell allows for increased learning opportunities
- High acuity patient population allows for exposure to unique disease states and management approaches
- Numerous pediatric subspecialty learning experiences, such as parenteral and enteral nutrition, cardiac ICU, stem cell transplant and solid organ transplant
- Strong emphasis on well-being and resiliency
- Robust Residency Advisor Program to guide residents to successful completion of PGY-2 and mentor them to achieve career goals
- Student preceptorship and didactic teaching with local schools of pharmacy

Dr. Shah obtained his PharmD from Poughkeepsie, NY. His interests include bone marrow transplant, child psychiatry and critical care. After residency, Dr. Shah would like to practice as a pediatric clinical pharmacy specialist. He is part of the Front Runners running club and enjoys cooking in his free time.
Ty (Tyler) Schacher, PharmD
PGY-1 pharmacy residency: NYU Langone Health Long Island Hospital; Mineola, NY
Pharmacy school: Fairleigh Dickinson University
Dr. Schacher (they/them/theirs) originally hails from Blooming Grove, NY. Their current interest areas include critical care, emergency medicine and oncology. After residency, they also are interested in continuing their medical learning by board certification, pursuing medical school, and/or precepting pharmacy students. Outside of pharmacy, they love to play and compose music, read, spend time with friends, and play tennis.
Chris Yang, PharmD
PGY-1 pharmacy residency: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
Pharmacy school: University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy
Dr. Yang is originally from San Jose, California, as well as Shanghai, China. In addition to his listed education, Dr. Yang obtained his Master of Sciences in palliative care from University of Maryland, Baltimore. His current professional interests include pediatric hospice and palliative care, complex care and pain management and furthering the care provided for pediatric patients. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with friends.

Pharmacy school: University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy
Dr. Huang is from Brooklyn, NY. Her current interests include neonatal ICU and cardiology. Her most anticipated rotation is solid organ transplant. After residency, she hopes to obtain pediatric board certification. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys embroidery and pickleball in her free time.
